Experts from across the globe have come together through the Solutions Lab, an initiative by GIZ in collaboration with the Global Solutions Initiative, to explore how multilateral climate funds can be better leveraged to address inequality.
While global recognition of the climate crisis has led to increased multilateral financial commitments, there is a risk that climate investments may reinforce or even exacerbate existing inequalities, by increasing unequal access to resources, deepening exclusion from benefits, or raising exposure to risk, harms and externalized costs. This underscores the urgent need for multilateral climate finance approaches to explicitly address inequality. An issue at the heart of the new report, “Leveraging Multilateral Climate Funds to Tackle Inequality and the Climate Crisis” which will be officially launched at this online event. The report is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration among experts from academia, think tanks, government, development banks and civil society across both the Global North and South
Interested participants are warmly invited to join the event and engage in a discussion on leveraging multilateral climate finance for inequality reduction.
