Think20 Side Event at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference 2024

The Global Solutions Initiative convened a side event, Moving from production to value addition in Africa’s agribusiness sector, with partners AKADEMIYA2063 (The Malabo Montpellier Panel), Center for Development Research, (ZEF)/University of Bonn and Welthungerhilfe at the 2024 Hamburg Sustainability Conference on October 8.
The session aimed to identify investment and policy priorities to boost the performance of Africa’s agrifood sectors beyond the cultivation of raw materials, towards the production of higher-value, nutritious and affordable food products, including adding value through food processing, reducing post-harvest loss, increasing supply chain efficiencies and fostering competitive integration in local and global markets. This session underscored the need for comprehensive investments and policy actions to transform Africa’s agrifood sectors, addressing SDGs 1, 2, and 8, and achieving the 2030 Agenda, CAADP, and UNFSS goals.
