Abobakar Sediq Miakhel

Abobakar Sediq Miakhel, born in Afghanistan and currently studying physics and mechanical engineering in the US, is the co-founder of AILEM. This innovative language learning and integration app, specifically tailored for refugees and asylum seekers, notably won both the World Summit Awards Young Innovators Award and the European Young Innovators Award in 2022. A passionate advocate for refugees and Afghanistan, Abobakar was also one of only 20 finalists—and the sole Afghan chosen—in UNESCO MGIEP’s “Digital Games for Peace” challenge. His commitment is further underscored by his membership in the King Baudouin program’s BOOST, his recognition as a Projects for Peace recipient, and his status as a UWC Davis Scholar.
