Ahmed Shayan, from Pakistan, is a sustainability leader with over a decade of global experience in program design and communication strategy. At the Engro Foundation, he spearheads nationwide sustainability initiatives focused on carbon offsets, plastic circularity, and biodiversity conservation. His significant work includes leading the Engro Forest Restoration and Carbon Offset Program (aiming for 50,000 acres), the Engro Circular Plastic Program (establishing Pakistan’s first plastic waste research institute and supporting recycling social enterprises), and the Indus River Dolphin Conservation Program (protecting the endangered species through technology, awareness, and advocacy). Currently participating in the UNGC’s SDG Ambition Accelerator, Ahmed’s diverse background also features organizing the PeaceTech Summit 2018 at USIP, research on illegal jade trade in Myanmar, and communications leadership for the Muslim Jewish Conference. He is a Fulbright Scholar with a master’s from The George Washington University.
