Jennifer Obiorah

Jennifer Obiorah, a Nigerian economist, was inspired to found TeamUpcyclers after suffering period poverty. Through TeamUpcyclers, she empowers 6,000+ IDPs, low-income youths, and girls annually with the skills to upcycle textile wastes into reusable sanitary pads to end period poverty. She also teaches them about the UN SDGs and how to achieve them. She spoke at COP28, the IRENA Youth Forum, and the African Climate Summit. Her awards include the IRENA Teaching for Net Zero Award 2023, the Youth Day Spotlight Award 2023, and the PAWEN Diversity and Inclusion Champion Award 2023, among others.
