Kasia Odrozek

AI Ethics Business Council Coordinator, UNESCO

Kasia works at the intersection of research, policy, and community engagement to help turn ideas into action within the ethical tech space. A research strategist and AI ethics expert, she is committed to fostering a more equitable digital future. Her key focus areas include open and ethical datasets for AI, the emergence of artificial intimacy, identity shifts driven by human–AI interaction, and the broader concept of Public AI.

Currently, Kasia leads the Business Council at UNESCO, where she supports the implementation of the Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. With a background that bridges both technical and policy domains, she facilitates cross-sector collaboration and helps translate AI ethics principles into tangible commitments and impact.

Previously, Kasia served as Director of the Insights team at the Mozilla Foundation, where she led research and policy efforts to advance Trustworthy AI and supported ethical innovators. She has advised funding bodies such as the EU AI & Society Fund and the Prototype Fund on grantmaking in the responsible technology field.

Kasia’s diverse background spans open knowledge and open-source communities, having worked with Wikipedia on open culture and software, as well as tech entrepreneurship, having led product strategy at the podcasting platform TapeWrite. Driven by a desire to reimagine startup culture, she founded Berlin’s chapter of Zebras Unite, a community challenging traditional venture capital models in favor of more ethical and inclusive practices.

She holds qualifications in law, political science, and product management, bringing a multidisciplinary lens to complex challenges at the intersection of technology and society.
