Maickson Serrão

Maickson Serrão, an Indigenous river dweller from an Amazonian community 10 hours by boat from Santarem, PA, is a powerful voice for the region. Currently based in Manaus-AM, he is a teacher, journalist, and podcaster. He serves as Vice-Curator of Global Shapers Manaus, a volunteer community connected to the World Economic Forum, and is a passionate activist defending the Amazon, with a particular focus on its nearly 30 million inhabitants. Maickson is the creator, researcher, and host of the critically acclaimed Pavulagem Podcast, which explores the Amazon’s enchanted beings and was among Brazil’s top ten new podcasts in 2022. His talent was recognized when he won Spotify’s Sound Up Brasil Program for black and Indigenous content creators in 2021. In 2023, he further amplified his platform as an ambassador for the Brazil Conference and a speaker at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. Maickson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a Master’s degree in Human Sciences.
