Marie-Florence Mahwera is an internationally educated professional with a strong academic background in European Law, political science, and business administration, combined with professional experience in international sports governance.
She studied European Law and Political Science in Maastricht and graduated with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) with a focus on European Law. Building on her legal education, she completed an MBA at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, gaining extensive international exposure through academic and professional placements in Milan, Chicago, Bangalore, Shanghai, and Beijing. Her academic focus lies at the intersection of European regulatory frameworks, policy, and international management.
Professionally, Marie-Florence Mahwera pursued a career in the international sports sector and working for FIFA leading the office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Alongside her professional activities, she is actively engaged in political and civic life. She joined Germany’s Free Democratic Party (FDP) in 2017. Since May 2025, she has been serving as a member of the Federal Executive Board of the FDP.
