Maysa Amer

Egypt | Maysa Amer is a political communication scientist and a PhD Candidate at the Free University of Berlin, Germany. A recipient of a Ford Foundation fellowship, she holds a Master’s in Television and Digital Journalism and a Graduate Diploma in Public Policy (both with Highest Honors) from the American University in Cairo, alongside another Master’s in Political Communication and Media Studies with excellence from Cairo University. Amer’s academic achievements have garnered multiple awards and grants from prestigious institutions like Ford, Erasmus, and DAAD. As an Assistant Lecturer of Communication, her research interests include media policy, digital media, polarization, and internet governance and regulations. With practical experience from her work at Associated Press (AP) and her role as a media policy consultant and mentor in public policy, Amer firmly believes that education and persistence are fundamental to development and progress.
