Oluwadamilola Akintewe YGC Project
Founder, Project Rebirth
Oluwadamilola Akintewe, a visionary leader from Nigeria, was inspired by her personal experience with gendered financial violence to found “Project Rebirth” in 2018. Her organization is dedicated to economically empowering women in rural Nigerian communities through free access to climate-friendly skills and impact investing in women-led businesses after training. Project Rebirth has since fostered economic prosperity for women and girls across 10 communities in three Nigerian states, indirectly empowering over 3,800 people. A fervent advocate for grassroots community development and crafting local solutions to global challenges, Oluwadamilola also champions gender equality as an ambassador for One Young World. Her impactful work has earned her numerous prestigious recognitions, including the Ford Community Impact Fellowship (2020), the Princess Diana Award (2022), being a Top 10 finalist for the Global Student Prize (2021), and an Ashoka Young Changemaker (2019). Her influence is further highlighted by her recognition as a World Connect Next Gen CEO, a Her Network Woman of the Future Award nominee, one of Opportunity Desk’s 30 Under 30 Global Changemakers, and her notable inclusion as the youngest on the 2020 “100 women creating a better Africa” list.
