Rosario del Pilar Diaz Garavito

Rosario is an SDG activist and the founder and executive director of The Millennials Movement, a youth-led organization that mobilizes youth in 16 countries of the LATAM region. Rosario was recently appointed as UN Civil Society Conference 2024, Off Site Events Sub-Committee Co-Coordinator and also serves as LATAM Consultation Lead for the UNESCO Global Education Monitoring Report. Rosario served as a former Member of the Youth Advisory Board for the Human Rights of Youth partnership of the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights, Education Above All and Silatech, and was awarded as an Obama Foundation Scholar 2019-2020 and currently holds a Master’s Degree on International Development and Policy at the University of Chicago.

In 2013, she was appointed as Youth Advocate of the My World 2015 survey where she led the mobilization of 38 000 Peruvians for the definition of the 2030 Agenda. Rosario played a pivotal role for the establishment of the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) children and youth regional formal mechanism – MeSCLAC, as well as it’s integration in MGCY representing the LAC region, where she served as Elected Focal Point 2020 – 2022, serving as Co Lead for the LAC Regional Sessions of the ECOSOC Youth Forum 2019 – 2022.

Rosario is a LAC Women Empower Program 2022- 2023 of the Ban Ki Moon Center alumni, Young Global Changer 2022 for the Global Solution the World Policy Forum and Women Champion 2015 – 2016 for UN Women for the “Empower Women” Global Movement for Women Economic Empowerment. Her work has been recognized by the Vice Presidency of Peru, the Regional Coordinator of the UN System in Peru, The United Nations Millennium Campaign, AIESEC International with the Leader for Peace Award.
