Sophia Branco

Brazil | Sophia Branco is a sociologist, feminist activist, and social educator deeply engaged with the Articulation of Brazilian Women. Here, she tirelessly advocates for women’s rights, working to integrate a feminist perspective into the broader struggle for a fairer society.
As a researcher and instructor at the Free Feminist University, Sophia contributes to fostering feminist research, strengthening civil society networks, and promoting political education for activists, social movements, and unions. She holds a Bachelor’s and an MA in Sociology from the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil), where she is currently pursuing her PhD in Sociology. Her academic interests include feminist political thought, the care and democracy debate, the Brazilian democratization process, and civil society’s role in strengthening democracy.
